Which heat shrink
gun is better. Ripack 2000 or 2200?
Ripack 2000 is a workhorse, a shrink gun designed to give the customer several
years of service and Ripack 2200 is designed for ease of use with our wide range
of extension wands.
How do I select a cover or film?
• Size calculation:
- Width: + 50 to 80 mm of the pallet
- Length: + 50 to 80 mm of the pallet
- Height = height of pallet + 1/2 width + 150 to 200 mm.
• Thickness:
- In most of the cases: 120 µ
- Items with sharp cutting edges: 150 - 180 µ
- Heavy products that nonetheless sit well on the pallet: 130 - 140 µ
- Heavy products that do not sit well on the pallet: 180 µ
- Bags of non-fluid products: 120-140 µ
- Bags of highly fluid products: 150 µ
- Crossover assembly cardboard boxes: 120 µ
- Non-crossover assembly cardboard boxes: 140-150 µ

Low density polyethylene film (LDPE) is made up of neutral element; it is an inert material.
Its manufacture, utilization, recycling and destruction do not give off any kind of pollutants.
It is 100 % recyclable at a low cost.
In the case of incineration also, the gasses released are CO2 and H2O which already present in nature and are not harmful to the environment.
Its heating capability is high (one ton of PE = one T.O.E.) and it can be potential substitute source of energy. Its manufacture and recycling, compared to that of paper and cardboard, are less costly in terms of energy and environment
What is the temp at 1.5m?
At 0.3m (1ft) it is 400 degree Celsius, at 0.6m (2ft) it is 230 degree Celsius
at 0.9m (3ft) it is 100 degree Celsius and at 1.5m or 5 ft it is 40 degree
Celsius.

Do Ripack shrink guns have a better coverage compared to ordinary shrink guns?
Heat output from Ripack goes out in a fan shape and also it covers a larger area. As a result the work gets completed much faster.

Which is the ideal thickness for a pallet shrink cover or pallet hood?
Ripack is designed to give its best performance with any thickness.
However we recommend at least 120micron to avoid scorching and consequent waste.
Any thickness from 75 to 300 microns can be easily shrunk. Please see the temperature guide given above in one of the FAQ's.
Why use colored shrink wraps and is there any difference in their properties?
Shrink Film for the Shrink wrap jobs which will be exposed to the Sun must have UV inhibitors. White shrink Film is used to reflect the sun rays, transparent for general cargo needs.
Blue for absorbing the heat of the Sun.
How much time
will it take to shrink a pallet of say 1.2m by 0.8m ?
A pallet of size 1.2mx0.8m of height 1m can be shrunk in 1 minute and
similarly 1.5m pallet will take about a minute and a half and 2m high pallet 2
minutes. These estimates are if film is 120 microns or ( 480 gage) thick.

Does Ripack 2200 has a 360 degree rotating
nozzle?
Ripack 2200 has a 360 degree rotating nozzle. You can turn Ripacks patented
cold nozzle by hand . You can position the combustion nozzle horizontal for up
down action and vertical if you want to move your hand from side to side.

Ripack 2200/ Ripack 2000 work on gas. Is it safe?
As with any industrial tool if
basic safety precautions are followed they are as safe as they get. Moreover
Ripack 2200 and Ripack 2000 are equipped with dead-man switch. Dead-man switch
means that the trigger needs to be kept pressed for the heat shrink gun to work.
The moment it is released, the Ripack Heat Shrink Gun will stop. We expect that
the operator will have the sense not to point the flame of the gun at any body
part, clothing or any inflammable material.
Do these heat guns consume a
lot of gas. Electric Shrink Guns could be cheaper to run and operate. What
about the cost? What is the routine maintenance you suggest?. Any special safety instructions? I lost the booklet / brochure that came with my Ripack 2200/ 2000

Nothing can beat the
cost effectiveness of Ripack shrink guns. They any day cheaper to run and
maintain . There are no moving parts inside or heating elements. To get heat
anywhere near even to Ripack 2200/2000 one would need at least 15-20 KW of
electricity. There is no heating cooling time required. No power outlet needed for it to
operate. It can even work in remote places where no electrical power is available. The Ripack 2200 gun uses between 2.9 to 4.9 kg of gas per hour
(continuous use). With an average of 3.5 kg/h (average pressure), you can shrink
approximately 120 pallets.
This figure is purely an indicator, and will vary with pressure and operator
usage habits.
Our factory is located far off. What about serviceability. Guarantee /Warrantee?
As Ripack gives full warranty for
1 year from date of purchase. Extended warranty is available from the
distributor at nominal cost. If routine maintenance is carried out; we dont
expect to see our Ripack 2200 and Ripack 2000 back. If your factory is out of
normal courier /express arrangement then while ordering your shrink gun - you
can also place an order for critical spares. The list is short. Only about 3-4
parts in all. The accompanying diagram will assist any technician at your end to
repair the shrink gun in a jiffy.
